About VPS Host Review

Most VPS comparison sites rank providers based on who pays the highest affiliate commission. Ours ranks them solely on what paying customers said. This page explains exactly how that works, why it matters, and what we do to keep it that way.

Why This Site Exists

The VPS hosting market is competitive and difficult to navigate. Dozens of providers compete for attention, and many of the reviews buyers encounter first are influenced by the same companies being ranked. Affiliate payouts shape positions. Sponsored placements are framed as editorial recommendations. The issue is not that affiliate relationships exist — it is that most sites conceal them while allowing them to dictate rankings.

VPS Host Review was built around one principle: the ranking is the review score, and the review score comes from verified customers. There are no paid placements. No provider can buy its way into the top spot. A provider ranked first got there because the people who actually paid for it said it deserved to be there.

How Reviews Are Collected

Any registered user who has experience with a listed VPS provider can submit a review. Every submission requires ratings across six categories and a written account of the experience. The written component is mandatory — a score with no context is not useful to other buyers.

All reviews with written comments are read by a moderator before publication. The moderation step exists to filter spam and off-topic content, not to suppress critical opinions. Negative reviews that describe a genuine customer experience are approved. A provider cannot contact us to have an unfavourable review removed.

To limit abuse, each user can submit one review per provider and one review per seven-day window. This prevents any single user from flooding the system with low-quality ratings.

The Six Rating Categories

Every review captures six dimensions of the hosting experience on a half-star scale from 0.5 to 5. The overall score is the straight average of all six — no category carries hidden weight in the public score displayed on provider pages.

Pricing

Is the price fair given what you receive? Does the renewal cost match the introductory rate?

Performance

Raw speed, CPU and I/O throughput, and how the server behaves under load.

Reliability

Day-to-day uptime, frequency of unplanned outages, and how quickly issues are resolved.

Support

Response times, quality of answers, and whether support staff actually solve problems.

Ease of Use

Control panel clarity, provisioning speed, and how much prior expertise the platform demands.

Value for Money

Overall satisfaction with the service relative to what was paid — the summary judgement.

Editorial Independence

This site earns revenue from affiliate commissions on some provider links. That relationship is disclosed in the footer of every page, on the homepage, and on every provider listing. It does not influence rankings, scores, or which providers appear on the site.

Providers are added based on market presence and user demand. A provider without an affiliate agreement can still appear on the site; a provider with a generous affiliate agreement cannot buy a better ranking. The ranking formula takes exactly one input: the aggregate of approved customer reviews.

Affiliate revenue funds the infrastructure that keeps the platform running and free to use. The arrangement is identical to how most independent technology publications operate — the commission comes from the provider, not from the visitor.

What This Site Is Not

VPS Host Review does not sell hosting, resell server capacity, or manage infrastructure. This is a review platform — the place you check before you buy, not the place that sells to you. Every provider linked from this site is a separate business with its own terms, pricing, and service quality.

We do not conduct laboratory benchmarks or simulate controlled workloads. The scores you see here reflect real-world experience from people running actual workloads on production servers — not synthetic tests run under ideal conditions. That distinction matters. A provider that scores well in a lab but poorly under real customer load will show that in the reviews.

The Platform

Hosting decisions carry real costs. A poor provider means downtime, lost data, and hours of support calls. A good one stays out of your way. The people best qualified to tell you which providers fall into which category are the customers who have already been through it.

Every review published here is permanently attributed to a registered account, searchable by provider and category, and factored into the provider's score from the moment it is approved. The community grows the signal quality of this site in a way no editorial team can replicate on its own — each new review is a data point based on direct experience.

If you have used a VPS provider and have an opinion worth sharing, create an account and write a review. Your experience is the content that makes this site useful.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Rankings are calculated solely from the weighted average of approved customer reviews. There is no sponsored placement, no boosted listing, and no mechanism for a provider to purchase a better position. The only way to improve a ranking is to deliver a better service and earn better scores from real customers.

Several safeguards work together. Registration requires a verified email address. Each account is limited to one review per provider. A rolling seven-day submission window prevents bulk submissions from a single account. Moderators review every submission with written content before it is published. Accounts that show patterns consistent with review manipulation are removed along with their submissions. No system is perfect, but these controls raise the cost of manipulation significantly compared to sites with no friction at all.

The site covers providers that offer VPS hosting as a primary or significant product line. If a provider you have used is missing, the most effective way to get it added is to use the contact form and name the provider. New providers are added through the same moderation pipeline as reviews and appear on the site once the submission is approved.

No. Once a review is approved, it is factored into the provider score and remains public. Providers cannot contact us to suppress, edit, or remove an approved review. If a review contains demonstrably false factual claims or violates the Review Guidelines, any user can flag it for moderator review — but the standard for removal is content policy, not provider preference.

Some outbound links to hosting providers are affiliate links. If you click through to a provider and sign up, this site may receive a commission from that provider at no extra cost to you. The commission comes from the provider, not from you. This relationship is disclosed on every page of the site. Affiliate status has no effect on a provider's ranking, score, or which reviews are approved.
